CodeLesson offers instructor-led online courses on the technologies you need to create a new Web product (or communicate more effectively with your development team). Use this page to set up your own technical co-founder mentorship with CodeLesson.
To start, click on one or more of the classes from the grid at left. If you've never coded before, start with HTML5 and CSS. Then select a server-side course in red (either PHP or Ruby), a front-end programming course in blue, and a database course in gold.
When you're done selecting courses, click on the Enroll button below.
When we started CodeLesson in 2010, we knew that software engineers would benefit from a place online where they could learn on a flexible schedule. We figured we'd be most useful in helping people who code for a living stay on top of the latest languages and technologies.
But we were surprised when novice coders asked if we could help them become more technical. In fact, in our first PHP courses, more than one of our students described themselves as startup CEOs. When we asked them why they were learning to code, they told us they wanted to provide direct help to their technical team and communicate with them more effectively.
This seemed like a righteous goal to us, so we wanted to help out even more. The CodeLesson Startup Series is what we came up with. We put some of our most popular and useful Web development courses in one place. You can be enrolled and on your way to coding competence with just a few clicks.
Enjoy your journey, and please let us know if there's anything we can do to support you and your team.
We've got you covered, Brosephus. This page contains just a basic subset of what CodeLesson offers. But we offer oh, so much more.
If you're looking to have your brain broken and painstakingly reconstructed by our crack team of technical instructors, you'll want to look into courses like Node.js, jQuery Mobile, and Programming Android.
If you're hip to learn emerging programming languages, give The Ruby Programming Language, Clojure or Scala a whirl.
If you'd prefer to review or update your knowledge of material you might have missed in college, check out our series of courses on Systems Programming, Mobile Development, or Data Crunching.
If we still haven't made your brain salivate, have a look at our complete list of courses.
To answer that, let's start by establishing what CodeLesson is not. Is CodeLesson comprised of a bunch of stale pre-recorded videos that you download, watch once, and forget about? Nope. Is CodeLesson some sort of robot-driven, automated, Web-based tutorial junkpile? Negatory.
CodeLesson is cool because it uses the Web, but it's made of people. Our courses are instructor-led, which means that if you get stuck, someone's got your back. Each course is comprised of a private discussion area just for students and instructors, readings, quizzes, and hands-on coding exercises.
