Course Prerequisite: Basic Personal Computer Skills
All CodeLesson courses assume you have
regular, predictable access to a personal computer for your own use.
We support Windows and Macintosh for every course.
Some courses may also support students who wish to use Ubuntu Linux
(check the course description or inquire with your instructor).
Basic PC skills entail the ability to:
- Turn on (boot) and start working with a PC
- Create and save files in a plain text editor (such as Notepad or Notepad++ on Windows or TextWrangler on the Mac)
- Create and save files in applications such as Microsoft Office or OpenOffice
- Organize files on your computer in directories (folders)
- Print documents
- Send and receive email
- Download, install and run new applications on your operating system of choice
