Web Programming with PHP (Part A)

An introduction to the PHP language for Web development

Web Programming with PHP Part A is our introductory course in creating dynamic Web sites using the PHP language. Building on your basic HTML skills, in this course you'll learn how to manipulate text and other data, create Web forms to handle user input, structure code using functions and server-side includes, and create various types of program logic. This instructor-led course contains weekly hands-on coding assignments, quizzes, textbook readings, and online discussions.

    Jeffrey McManus has been a Web developer in Silicon Valley for fifteen years. He teaches Web Design and Management for the University of Victoria and is the CEO of Platform Associates. This course is ideally followed by Web Programming with PHP (Part B).

Prerequisites

  • Basic PC skills and access to a computer (Macintosh, Windows or Linux).
  • Basic Web skills (browsing, links, images, etc.)
  • Basic HTML and CSS skills. Ability to put together a valid Web page using correct HTML structure and CSS formatting in a text editor, without the use of a visual tool or code generator.

Duration and Format

Six weeks. Taught online. Instructor-led.
